cat/etc/issue is a typo.

Should be : cat /etc/issue
I.e. "cat<space>/etc/issue"

# 17 : Sorry, missed your post # 16.

And confirm : "autoconf-1.12.x" is required by "autogen.sh".

I will have a look at Ubuntu 10.04, and test if pandaseq can be build.

? Did you try with a package install ? :
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:apmasell/ppa && sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install pandaseq

.

http://code.google.com/p/snappy/issues/detail?id=67
I.e. the macro AM_PROG_AR is provided by automake-1.12.x.

3) Finding the Ubuntu version : $ cat /etc/issue
The architecture : $ uname -m

.
qiime@linux:~/pandaseq$ ./autogen.sh[/CODE]

I have to go. Thanks a lot and have a nice weekend, guys. Your suggestions are helpful, and I will try it late.

Some problems with the "apmasell/ppa repo". The repo installs OK.
The two keys are accepted too, but no package pandaseq available.

Example, Ubuntu 10.04, building pandaseq from the git version :
1) sudo apt-get install alien
2) wget http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/fedo...c18.noarch.rpm
3) sudo alien automake-1.12.2-5.fc18.noarch.rpm
4) sudo dpkg -i automake_1.12.2-6_all.deb
5) cd pandaseq/ && ./autogen.sh && ./configure && make
... No errors.
