Question build linux kernel to target Atom230

Dear Sir:
May I ask you a question?
I tried to compiler linux2.6.29.4 on winXP, by way of cygwin and crosstool.
I use i686.sh to set crosstool,and target CPU is Atom230.
But the error occured while executing make.

mark_chung2markchung-xp2 / linux-2.6.29.4
$ make
HOSTCC scripts/basic/fixdep
HOSTCC scripts/basic/docproc
HOSTCC scripts/basic/hash
HOSTLD scripts/config/conf
scripts/kconfig/conf -s arch/x86/kconfig
CHK include/linux/version.h
UPD include/linux/version.h
CHK include/linux/utsrelease.h
UPD include/linux/utsrelease.h
SYMLINK include/asm -> include/asm-x86
HOSTCC scripts/basic/fixdep
HOSTCC scripts/basic/docproc
HOSTCC scripts/basic/hash
CC kernel/bounds.h
GEN include/linux/bounds.h
CC kernel/bounds.h
GEN include/asm/asm-offsets.s
CALL scripts/checksyscalls.sh
CC scripts/mod/empty.o
HOSTCC scripts/mod/mk_elfconfig
MKELF scripts/mod/elfconfig.h
Error : not ELF
make[2] : *** [scripts/mod/elfconfig.h] Error 1
make[1] : *** [scripts/mod] Error 2
make : *** [scripts] Error 2

Please help me out!
Thank you!

Atom processors will work with any x86 build.

I imagine the problem is with your cygwin environment.

You may want to download an installation image to a USB Flash drive if you are attempting to install Linux on a Netbook.
