Exclamation Broke my Graphical User Login! (oops!)

Hi,

I was trying to install a new theme for my KDM or Graphical User login. Now unfortunatly the system is saying the KDM in corrupt. somthing about user/password elements. But now I can't login. I press the OK button but the system hangs! All I can do is get to the text based login by cressing Ctrl-alt-F1. Please, please can someone help me get back to KDE. I am really stuck here!

Hi, welcome to LQ!

And to help you it would help to know which of the distros
you listed in your profile you managed to b0rk.

If all you need for now is running KDE just log in on the
console and type startx.

Cheers,
Tink

I have tried startx but it said the x server was already running. I also tried StartKDE but it said It couldn't open the display. How do I reset the KDM to a standard Greeter? Oh. and I am using Yellow Dog Linux 4.0.1 Orion.

I'm very lacking with YellowDog. You could look at
ps -ef
and see whether there actually is an instanceof X already
up ... if it isn't, look at X's log and check where it
put it's lock-file, and remove that and try startx again.

Cheers,
Tink
