Oops I did it again ...
While I was seeking new things to learn in Linux world, I found fascinating world of compiling kernel by my own. I made all by the book, except for that one little thing I figured just when I rebooted.. I forgotted to run lilo
Booting now gives just "L" to the screen which little Googling gives meaning of that LILO cannot get to second part of booting up. My distro is Mandrake 10.0 community, and first CD of the set works as rescue CD, which I booted, and mounted my harddisk. Then I chroot'd to /mnt/hd and run "lilo -v" and I had the usual stuff which lilo prints when its installed. I rebooted again, but still, just "L"
I panicked. Booted on rescue CD again, chroot'd and run "lilo -M /dev/hdd". I also edited lilo.conf so lilo would boot only regular Mandrake kernels and not my own making.
Didn't help
Still, unfriendly "L" on black screen.
I read HOWTO's, man pages, searched these forums, googled, but I just don' t figure it out on my own. Maybe its small detail I haven't yet noticed, I don't know. Can anyone help?
