Best way to move 5TB from ubuntu to windows 8 HDD?

Howdy all I have tons of files/folders to move from xbmcbuntu to a HDD set up on Windows 8

I do have samba etc.. but is there any other way say a command or something?

Samba's speed is just 4-5mbps so this way would take days. (also on a gb network which is even more odd)

Cheers

The obvious question for me would be, why don't you just physically plug the drive into the Windows system? Boot into xbmcbuntu there, and you should be able to mount/see the Windows drive. Copy the files there, using the disk controller itself, which will get you much better speed.

If you must do a network transfer, you have already indicated that you are using the gigabit wired connection, and Samba can often be slow. You may want to run a test on some different protocols, such as using putty from Windows to do an SCP/SFTP, or seeing if you can get an NFS client up on Windows.
