I switched to Ubuntu about a year age and found that some of my external hard drives worked (LaCie) and some didn't (Seagate). I now need a new, larger (1TB) and would really like to avoid these problems. Can anyone suggest a good drive that will work right out of the box?
I had two Seagate drives that would not work at all with Ubuntu. The chatter at that time was that Seagate had some sort of feature that would not allow the volume to mount. I tried several suggested fixes and finally gave up.
