becoming root without re-login

I want to do some file permission stuff, such as edit fstab in KWrite, but i find i need to be root or SU to save due to file permissions.. Is there a way to become a SU without the need to log in as root?..

TIA!

"man su"

if that doesn't help ask again... you could make a script to run only a certain command as root... among other things. but i'm guessing the su manpage and related pages will help..

press Alt+F2
type:
kdesu konqueror
and hit ok. That should open up the file manager in super user mode.

Open a console, and type:
xhost +
su
<password>
kwrite filename
Then when you've finished editing:
exit
