autorun for broadband dongle not functional


to anyone that can help. new to linux. impressed just not sure how to get my broadband dongle to work in linux. in windows it runs automatically. i am with linux ubuntu which picks it up but i cannot run the setup.

any suggestions?

what model of dongle? wi-fi dongle?

it is an O2 prepaid dongle. usb. i am very new to linux and have had a look at some other threads which i find a little confusing. any step by step help would be greatly appreciated
