Authoritative-Only DNS Server --- not able to do iterative query

Hi All,

I have masterdns 10.169.0.23 and slavedns .24 on centos 7.
One of client on suse. Issue here is when servers have "recursion yes" in configuration files it works all well. But I want server to just do iterative queries. It shows error.

Please find configurations and output attached.
1) When both server service running
2) and 3) when any of server named service was off.

Please can any one help me to make server Authoritative-Only DNS Server to just resolve zone files A records.

Hi,

This is how (the deprecated) nslookup works. And that's why it's advisable to use dig instead.
See the last paragraph here for an explanation.

If you still want to use nslookup, you can either allow recursion for your local network, or use the norec option:
Code:
nslookup -norec susebox2

Regards
