Ati driver problem!

Hi, i just install ati driver 8.29.6 in ubuntu and when i restarted my pc i got this message when i tried to open the ati control panel in my application :

Drive does not provide the Fire X11 extensions!
Panel components will operate only partially.

I tried to reinstall it but nowthing happend. I don't know what is wrong cause i have installed it again in the past : the same version of the driver in the same ubuntu distibution. What can i do for it? Please help, cause i don't won't to do a second format in a raw.
