Apache2 uninstall on SUSE

Hi,

I downloaded apache 2.0.52 from apache.org. Aa a good newbie I lost httpd.conf. I would like to uninstall and install the apache.

Now I am looking for a few days already for a way how to uninstall it on SUSE without Yast. Yast is trying to screw me with 2.0.49 somehow :-(

I am not able to find a command to unistall it. This is something :-) real newbie struggle :-)

Thanks gurus from a newbie!

Did you install it from an rpm? or from source?

If from rpm, then simply rpm -e packagename

If from source, then just delete the files that were installed. Try using the locate command on apache and you shpould get a massive list.

Amfoster's method of removing source installation is not quite safe, try "make uninstall" instead.

whipermr5,

I didn't know samba had a uninstall rule in the makefile. My apache server was installed using an rpm via yast, so I couldn't check. It seems to me that he should be able to use YaST and simply reinstall the stock version again. I've had to do that a few times with the kernel rpm and that should work with apache as well.
