okay, i know that with a domain name registration company they will forward the domain to your own ip where it is stationed, but i was wondering is it possible to register your domain for free using apache or something? going to run a webpage off of a linux box and want to know how to do it really really cheaply(as in free). is it possible to do it with apache or any other way? thanks all

Oh man, Linux would be much more popular if this were possible! No, you'll have to pay someone to register a domain name. Not much, though -- www.godaddy.com, $8.95/yr. After that, you're only paying your isp and buying a lot of books.
