anyone successful with bittorrent?

I downloaded bittorrent via apt-get install bittorrent.. It was installed then I tried opening a torrent file with /usr/bin/btdownloadgui but nothing happens... it just loads for a while then nothing happens. Any ideas what is wrong?

I never got the "official" (from bittorrent client to work. But there are several clients to choose from. The only one i got running without way too much hassle was Azureus. But... Nothing comes for free. Azureus is Java-based, and it really makes you computer choke when there's 10 Java virtual machine processes running. And that's exactly what happens when you start Azureus and do just about anything with it.

Yeah I had azureus installed but I chose to uninstall it for the reason you just gave and it seems to check the files too long for me.
