Am I doing something wrong?

Hi, I recently burned backtrack, wifiway 0.6 and 0.8. None of these worked on my system... An HP pavilon laptop.

it starts loading vmlinuz.gz and the screen goes black and stays black (for over half hour) so i'm pretty sure something is wrong. This occured with all three discs!!!!!

Is there a boot option I can specify to perhaps not load graphically, or get a verbose output of what it is doing so I can see where it is hanging?

You should be able to hit F1-F4 or so to look at boot options. The cds you are trying to load might not have the right driver for the video card or something like that.
