ALSA Kernel 2.6.7 and Slack10 and my game Theater

I am trying to get my game theater xp to be recognized by alsa. it was recognized just fine before I upgraded to kerenl 2.6.7 after that alsa can't find it. I double checked the config for the kernel and its definitly listed under support the Cirrus46XX so I don't know what I am missing.

You need to post the output from your /etc/modules.conf file and the "lsmod" command.

Kernel 2.6.7 and Slack10 and game Theater

Is your soundcard listed when you run alsaconf? There should be two options, cs46xx (Cirrus logic cs 4614/22/24...) module and legacy.

First I did clean Slackware 10 install with 'full install' option. (Which I did several times before I finally got that it was actually a configuration problem. I think I have used Windows way too long to learn out that bad habit. Too bad this time I can't blame even Via's chipsets or Windoze.
Then I have installed the 2.6.7 kernel from 2nd slackware 10 cd (testing/packages/) headers , modules and source and patched the 2.6.7 source with 2.6.8-rc2 patch and then recompiled the kernel. Check if all necessary modules from the kernel configuration are selected before you compile the kernel.

kernel settings used for sound: (And still works

I later also discovered that it could be some mixer settings that cause the sound disappear if spdif is used. If spdif is not working and you have not started kde desktop after installation (I use Gnome most of the time), then use xwmconfig to change the desktop, then start x using kde desktop and the sound should work. Now you can change the desktop back if you don't like kde (open xwmconfig from console and select desktop again). Maybe some configuration script in kde 'probes' sound chip better ?
Also the volume settings need some adjustments. In console, start alsamixer and check the ADC and DAC sliders. Put the sliders as example to 75%. Then press esc to quit alsamixer , give command alsactl store, and alsactl restore. Now the sound *should* work (also with spdif). I hope this gave some idea to make it work.
