aacraid:srb error 4

I am getting the following error on my linux box.

aacraid: SRB ERROR(4) Bad status code scsi cmd 0x0 - scsi status 0x2
aac_srb_callback check condition, status =0 len =30

I have replaced the back up tape drive and the scsi cable for the back up tape drive. Also in the process of doing this I notice that one of my drives was flashing amber and upon restart went back to green.

Please Help
thanks

Sounds like it might be a hardware fault on one of your SCSI devices. Have you checked that ytour SCSI cable is correctly terminated and that Linux detects all your SCSI devices correctly?

Back again

Wow has it been a busy month here in my IT world.

back to this crazy error.

I have spoken to Dell tech support and they think it might be because of (You have your ROMB (RAID On Mother Board) enabled (which is essentially a PERC 3/Di) and the hard drives connected to it. When this is enabled, it turns both SCSI ports into a Dual-channel Integrated RAID controller. Tape drives are not designed nor intended to be run on a RAID controller as a RAID controller accesses information on a device differently than would a SCSI controller, such as an Adaptec 39160.) Which I could purchase but would like to try the cheaper way out first.

Now I have also spoken with the Linux group at Dell and the first mention to try and up date the driver for my tape drive. I have looked every where for a driver and have been unsuccessful. Can any one point me in the right direction?

Tape Drive:
PV110T, Value Smart 80
Server:
Dell PowerEdge 2500
OS:
Debian 3.1 (yes I know it is very old)

thanks for your help

edit
i have ran this test flexbackup -test-tape-drive results below

flexbackup version 1.2.1 (http://flexbackup.sourceforge.net)
/etc/flexbackup.conf syntax OK

|------------------------------------------------------------
| Checking 'buffer' on this machine... Ok
| Checking /bin/sh on this machine... bash2
|------------------------------------------------------------
| Trying "mt defblksize" instead of "mt setblk"
Error setting block size
Neither of these commands worked:
mt -f /dev/nst0 setblk 0
mt -f /dev/nst0 defblksize 0
pways-fs2:/etc/cron.11pm#
