A question related to LDAP

Hello friends,
I am learning the LDAP concept. Could you please let me know whether, for LDAP to work, NIS is a prerequisite. That is, whether LDAP works independently as a domain and has its own domain controller.... or it coexists with the NIS domain to provide the directory services?

Thank u.

No, LDAP doesn't depend on NIS. In fact, it often replaces
NIS these days all together.

Cheers,
Tink
