Question A few newbie questions

Hi,
When i copy a file to a mounted HHD i get a error saying
"Could not change permission for /mnt/win_d/Text File"
How can i stop this?

How do i change the name of the CD-ROM icon on the desktop its called "CD-ROM mounted at /mnt/cdrom/"?

My last question
I want to update python 2.2.2 to python 2.3 do i uninstall python 2.2 first via rpmdrake or do i just install 2.3 over the top of 2.2?

Thanks for your help

Are you mounting /mnt/win_d/Text File with a mount command or in /etc/fstab?

"How do i change the name of the CD-ROM icon on the desktop its called "CD-ROM mounted at /mnt/cdrom/"?"

If you are using KDE then right click on the icon, click on Properties, and change the name.

"I want to update python 2.2.2 to python 2.3 do i uninstall python 2.2 first via rpmdrake or do i just install 2.3 over the top of 2.2?"

Either way will work.

I dont know i just go to /mnt/win_d with Konqueror

"If you are using KDE then right click on the icon, click on Properties, and change the name."

I've tried that and i get an error saying "Creating directories is not supported with protocol devices" i don't know if its relevant but the name in properties is "nonemntcdrom2"

You are obviously trying to copy to FAT32 partition.
If that is so, you cannot avoid those messages.since FAT and FAT 32 doesn't support permisiionas and other advanced stuff.

Maybe try converting to NTFS
