Why not just buy an iPhone? Compared to a 2006 laptop, a 2015 smartphone features superior hardware specs, all-day battery life, and will fit in your pocket.
But if you really want to install Linux on your Intel Macbook, I think it can be done. Here is some good information from the Ubuntu help page, for example:
