100% Newbie needs help please

I boot my newly installed cd containing CDlinux which go's to the select language screen, select English and on to the next screen.

This contains several lines of information including a message in red stating "Can't find out where CDlinux is installed"

And the bottom line "Press enter to activate this console"

After pressing enter it comes back with a line asking for an input
on rootCdlinux# and I have no idea on what to input at this point

I need help please

It sounds like perhaps you did not install a boot loader. It sounds like it may be a Grub Recovery Prompt. It is weird that you get that language selection page like on firstboot. You may want to try http://www.supergrubdisk.org/ if you want to repair Grub, or if you have never booted in successfully you may want to try and re-install making sure to select to install a boot loader.

Hi. http://www.cdlinux.info/wiki/doku.php/doc/faq/index
Looks to be a year or two old, can you download newer distros to test? First link in my signature has some links for that...

otherwise try typing startx or Xfce4 at that command-prompt\rootCdlinux#

plus by "installed" do you mean you put the cd in or whent trough an install process?

I have downloaded the latest stable version and burnt the image onto a CD, booted it up and it worked

Looks like it was a dud version or had not burnt properly

Thank you for your replies, much appreciated
