'Nedit : Can't open display' message in ssh sever

hellow

I have a problem as u see the title..
I have to open the nedit in ssh server but it's not open at all
Also i know some commandS forexample.. 'echo DISPLAY=IP:0.0 or export DISPLAY=IP:0.0
But it's useless things

Please help me another way to solve this problem
I'm using redhat enterprise 6.1

Did you check if X server is listening on TCP port 5900?

How are you connecting to the machine? Did you do an SSH -X <ip>?

I just connect server this way like.. ssh name@IP

After you did ssh -X, check for netstat output as mentioned before.

You should also have an X server on your machine. What machine are you connecting from? Windows or Linux?

and as u mentioned about netstat command, did it on local or server?

Hi -

Netstat is on the remote machine to which you connect. This is also applicable on the local machine. You need X running on local machine and remote machine to listen on a port.

After you did "ssh -X", what was the DISPLAY environ holding?

I input that command, but it just output 'usage: ssh [~~]' maybe there's not exist -X command
