I just bought a new laptop, and it's not letting me partition the hard drive.
I have decrypted the drive, and turned off windows fast start. I can't fid anything in the bios that looks like it deals with the hard drive. Any clues would be much appreciated.
HP Envy 2 Model 15-fh0023dx
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
The Live DVD doesn't pick up the wireless, but that's a problem for another day.

was the hard drive detected by the live cd?
what partitioning tool did you use?
were you root, or a regular user?
if you were a regular user, did you use sudo?
are you trying to keep windows on the drive, and dual boot?
what kind of encryption were you using?
Can you see the HDD from the Live DVD? Could you provide more information, such the specifi procedure you are taking to partition the HDD and what happens after each step?
The more detail you provide, the easier it is for others help with your question.
You didn't indicate which of the many Linux distributions you are using so that would be a start. Also, the release version. Your information is really limited and it won't really be possible for anyone to give pertinent help without more detail. You indicate the SSD is detected but you cannot partition it so more details on that. Just as a guess, I would suggest you check if your windows install is set to hibernate (the default) as a Linux installer will not mount a hibernated partition filesystem due to likely loss of data. You can check this in your power settings on windows. If this was the problem you need to be aware that some updates of windows will turn it back on again and of course, will neither ask nor inform the user it is being done. If that isn't it, you need to post more information as suggested by other members.
