Hi anyone can tell me how to configure my ethernet card to work. My pc only works wirelessly. I don't know what kind of ethernet card is installed. I have Ubuntu 10.4 on a dell pc 1ghz, 20ghd, 512mb.

You can check the Ethernet card vendor using the following command,
lspci -v | grep -i ethernet -A11
Not sure what kind of Network service you have in front of your PC. If it provides DHCP IP, you will get an IP automatically once you plug the Ethernet cable.
