windows client cannot have access to LPRng printing server

I have installed LPRng on my Ubuntu 6.06 machine using Synaptic. I would like to share my printer with the other machine running windows XP. I used this article to configure the windows XP machine http://www.ovislink.ca/tech/LPR_XP.pdf

But I can't print anything from winXP machine.

I even didn't succeed to print a document using my Linux machine.

I could print documents using CUPS very well but I MUST use LPrng as the server on my Linux machine so that windows computer be able to connect to it and print documents remotely.

Any suggestion?

You must first install the Print Services for Unix on Windows XP. This is not installed by default.

Start --> Control Panel --> Add/Remove Programs. Click on Add/Remove Windows Components. Choose Other Network Print and File Services and click on Details. Choose Print Services for Unix. Click OK and then click Next to install.

That only enables Unix clients to use any printer connected to windows XP machine. Besides it I cannot even print a document on my linux machine using LPrng.

Not true. You need Print Services for Unix if you want to create an LPR port on the Windows systems.

My experience has been that you can use CUPS -or- LPRng, but not both as the with try to use some of the same files, notably /etc/printcap.

I removed CUPS from my machine. But now when I want to print a document default printer is generic printer and lprng cannot locate my printer. How can I locate my printer in LPRng?
Meanwhile LPD is running and occupying 33% of CPU usage.
