Why is Ubuntu blocking port 22 from Windows?

When I try to connect from Windows to my Ubuntu machine on port 22 with WinSCP or Putty I get a network error. I CAN however ping the address from windows. I assume that port 22 is being blocked on Ubuntu. How do I unblock it? I couldn't find a firewall option on Ubuntu.

Complete screenshots of how I have set up Ubuntu (on VMware by the way) and the above errors here:
tanguay.info/web/tutorial.php?idCode=installUbuntuOnVmware&sectionIdCode=accessLinuxFilesFromWindowsWithWinSCP

Thanks in advance!

Port 22

Out of the box Ubuntu doesn't install ssh server, only the client.

sudo apt-get install ssh

Should fix you up :-)
