What command to issue to get KDE over SSH

Hi,

everything works well under XDCMP, I would like however to get to use it over SSH. I can launch xterm by typing /path/xterm

But when I try to launch KDE with startkde I get error messages across the board.

This is what I am executing:
/opt/kde/bin/startkde

This is what I get ( GDM or KDM running on server )

/opt/kde/bin/startkde: xestroot: command not found
/opt/kde/bin/startkde: mkfontdir: command not found
/opt/kde/bin/startkde: xset: command not found
/opt/kde/bin/startkde: xset: command not found
/opt/kde/bin/startkde: lnusertemp: command not found
/opt/kde/bin/startkde: lnusertemp: command not found
/opt/kde/bin/startkde: dcopserver_shutdown: command not found
/opt/kde/bin/startkde: ksplash: command not found
/opt/kde/bin/startkde: kdeinit: command not found
/opt/kde/bin/startkde: xmessage: command not found
/opt/kde/bin/startkde: kwrapper: command not found
/opt/kde/bin/startkde: xmessage: command not found
/opt/kde/bin/startkde: kdeinit_shutdown: command not found
/opt/kde/bin/startkde: dcopserver_shutdown: command not found
/opt/kde/bin/startkde: artsshell: command not found

Help?
Thanks

Are you using KDE on the computer your accessing your other computer on? If so, just run regular commands, like /usr/bin/konqueror or /usr/bin/kfloppy

I just saw your post in general...
First, thats against the rules to post more than once in different forums.
Second, you cann't <to my knowledge> access a linux system from windows, they arn't compatible and won't agree. Try demolinux if you have to use the other computer.

Sorry for the newbie-like questions guys. I'm new to "modding" linux, though not new to programming in it at all. But using g++ and knowing what to include and what runs what is a far cry from learning to mess with applications. I appreciate all your help thus far.

Hotrodowner.

The post in general was about a previous problem. It expressed connectivity problems. This one is about launching programs. Obviously, the connectivity problem has been solved.

You can't access a linux system from windows?

Check this.

That's a KDE session run through XDCMP using x-win32. Works like a charm, XDCMP is insecure and uses alot of bandwidth. My main concern here is running it with SSH to save network time and to render things more secure. X-WIN32 supports SSH inherently, and I know it can be done. sshd_config has X11 forwarding.

I can launch xterm, xclock and all the little "apps". I want to run KDE over SSH and need some help in doing so. So far, no avail.

I look forward to constructive advice and help that will get me on the right track.

Cheers.
S.
