vsftpd won't change to user's home

Hi all,

got some really suspicious problem here.

im on the way setting up a new server, im now at the part with vsftpd.

vsftpd is installed and running, i'm able to connect with my users that i've created.

all users have their home-dir, the right permissions on the homedirs and such

the problem now when i connect with a user, vsftpd always comes out at the main root of the server, chroot_local_user directive seems to work, because i can't change to any of the listed direcotries.

vsftps is setted up with pam

and here goes the config.

------------------------------------------------

listen=NO
pam_service_name=vsftpd

local_enable=YES
write_enable=YES

xferlog_enable=YES
xferlog_file=/var/log/vsftpd.log

idle_session_timeout=600
data_connection_timeout=120

userlist_enable=YES
userlist_deny=NO
userlist_file=/etc/vsftpd_userlist
chroot_local_user=YES

chmod_enable=YES
local_umask=022
ascii_upload_enable=YES
pasv_promiscuous=YES

ftpd_banner=CONNECTED
dirmessage_enable=YES

-------------------------------------------------------

thx in advance

Have you checked to see if SELINUX is running? I had problems with vSFTPd when it was enabled. I shut it off and can access it now.

If you want to try it, goto /etc/sysconfig and open selinux and you can set SELINUX to disabled.

Hi, dude

thx for your reply, but just figured it out.

vsftpd was compiled with pam-support, and i had to set up the flag pam_service_name=vsftpd in the configfile.

also some fixes in /etc/pam.d were necessary that vsftps was able to auth users over shadow, really stupid, but it works.
