vsFTPd Utility?

I use vsFTPd on my Debian server and it's been rock solid for one year now but I am looking to find out how I can see when a user is logged in using FTP, what are they doing. Is there a way I can check to see if they are uploading or downloading and what file it is? I would think there would be some admin utility either GUI or CLI.

Thanks for any input.

vsftpd usually logs to /var/log/vsftpd.log or /var/log/xferlog. If it's called something else, the log filename will be specified in the config file for vsftpd. Are you looking for something to parse its contents?

Have a look at http://www.serverwatch.com/tutorials...le.php/3526521 and http://www.nihongo.org/snowhare/utilities/ftpweblog/ (I haven't used this one) for a guide to log parsing tools. I tend to manually parse (via grep) my logs or use logwatch...

So I guess vsFTPd - does not have a graphical utility or a plugin or any sort, huh?

Not built into itself. I wouldn't be surprised to see GUI tools available as part of KDE or GNOME (for example). I've never gone hunting for them because the only 2 boxes I have running that sort of stuff don't have a GUI.
