uPnP Question

Hi.

I've setup the upnp sdk and linux igd to allow MSN's whiteboard and application sharing to work, however it doesn't...

I'm using redhat 9 with iptables firewall that is configured using the gShield iptables script.

anyway, a port scan reveals that port 5000 (upnp) is closed, whereas all other ports are stealthed.. this says to me that the port is open (as per my firewall rules) but upnp isn't listening on it.

upnpd is active in the process list and my xp boxes show the internet gateway device in the network connections which indicates the service is running.

Is there anything I have missed? If anyone needs more info, let me know. I'm getting desperate here

Hi There,

I was just wondering if you were able to make UPnp/IGD with Redhat as I am trying the very same thing, however I cannot get it to even compile on my RH8 system!

Have you any suggestions to improve my success of install the sdk and igd?

Thanks, in advance.

John

For Smoothwall is works this way
http://www.hivemynd.net/smoothwall/u...press2upnp.htm
As SW is based Red Hat based:

http://www.smoothwall.org/docs/SmoothWall_FAQ.PDF
Quote:
What version of Linux does SmoothWall use?
A. The Linux distribution that SmoothWall is based upon has its origins in the VA Linux customised Red Hatbased
Linux version. It has subsequently been optimised and heavily cut down in size so that all that
remains is the bare minimum of core functionality that is required to provide a system that can operate
securely as a network router and firewall. The version of the Linux kernel is 2.2.18.
I'am now using Smoothwall 2 with kernel version 2.4.26 plus fixes 1, 2 and 3. Installing the upnp option and it works!
On my clients we use Messenger 6.2.
For Netmeeting and Gnomemeeting ports can be forward manually using the web admin.
I've tested this setup under:
Win 2K
Win 98
Win XP
Fedore Core 2
MAC OS X
as client behind the SW firewall.

Maybe you can try to get it work under Red Hat as a server. Post your experiences!
The upnp.tar.gz link seems to be dead, mail me if you want to.
