Question United Linux- Samba configuration?

Hi all,

When I issue "smbpasswd" command I am getting the following Error

# smbpasswd root
Failed to find entry for user root.
Failed to modify password entry for user root.

I logged in as root.
smbusers file has the entry :
root = administrator admin

in smb.conf :

workgroup = HDC #my windows domain name

[homeshare]
...
...
users allowed = root
path = /root
...
...

Now, What could be the reason I am not able to set smbpasswd to root.

--Harsha.

Which verision of linux do you have? Can you get to a gui? I have only set up samba with half gui and half terminal. I know that you are the admin for this comp but i sujest that you do not log in as root all the time. I only log in as root for maintance. I think that if you use a different login then it will work.

For help with samba
