Trying to configure samba to work with Windows XP pro and RedHat 8.... Please help !!
Hey there, i am running Rehat 8 on my pdc and have Windows XP Pro running on my other pdc. I have and ethernet connection hooked into a lynksys router which feeds them both.
I have samba installed on my Redhat machine and am trying to get access to the files on my Windows XP Pro machine. I know that i have to configure the smb.conf file, but i have never done this before and am having a hard time with it. Basically, i have 3 partitions on my windows xp machine that i need to be able to get files off of from my linux box. I also have files on my linux box that i would like to have access to from my windows xp machine.
I want access to the C:, D:, and E: drives on my windows machine and /root and /mnt/windows on my linux box.
I am not really sure about how to do this and any help with the smb.conf file would be greatly appreciated.
Also, once i get this working i am not sure how to browse the windows machine from my linux box, any help here would be greatly apprecitated as well.
my workgroup name is WORKGROUP
my allows are 192.168.10.*
thx,
