If the you have the network adaptor module not compiled in the kernel, then there is a file called
/etc/sysconfig/hardware/hwcfg-<devica name>
edit this file.
In this file, edit MODULES="<module you want to load for this device>"
i'm having a very similar problem with my broadcom ethernet card. suse will detect it and try to set it up. (this is while i'm trying to install suse 9.2) after it configs the network, the network test fails. this is the log i get says there isn't a IPv6 router present.
i'm a new linux user, and i'm trying to set this machine up on a small home network. i first tred to install suse 8.2 and ran into the same problem, so i went ahead and got 9.2. it's better at detecting the hardware, but not much better at resolving it. i've tried to use both the tg3 module and the dcm5700, but same error.
the physical connection is ok, i checked it a few times, and it works fine with the rest of the computers i have. any suggestions?
