To log in a guest (bridged), do I need to open the port on the host?
Just wondering, not at home right now to check this out, if I want to log in via SSH to a VM which network adapter is set as bridged, do I need to open the SSH port at both host and guest?
I know I can port forwarding within own VirtualBox settings, but I mean without doing this.

as far as I know you only need to open that port on the guest.

If it is bridge mode, it doesn't need to open port at Host system. Only need to open at Guest VM.

I thought the same, but this morning before leaving to work, I tried that and couldn't connect. Of course, forwarding at router is OK.

If you are home gateway NAT environment, you still need port forwarding.
