Angry "timeout waiting for PADO packets" error in pppoe


I am using fedora core 6
timeout waiting for PADO packets...this is the error when i type pppoe start in my terminal window...i guess the prob is with lan card...
wat i did was...
ran ifcofig and obtained the address and the subnet address and configured my ethernet device....it shows active but dunno why i get the error for pppoe
