Unhappy

Hello
I have excelled myself and compiled a 2.4.2 kernel on my RH7.0 . Boots amazingly fast, and seems stable etc. Only problem is that I can't get the fa311 to work. I've compiled the drivers from the new netgear download, as well as the previous ones, which I saw someone had used successfully for a different distro.
Even when I've compiled the drivers, insmod says they were compiled for 2.2.16-22 and refuses to load (-f doesn't help, I guess 2.2 to 2.4 is too much of a difference.
Anyone have any idea how I can get it to work, or will I have to forget using my USB Zip, and go back to my old kernel?
All hints appreciated.
Jim

Embarrasing

Hi
Well, I recompiled my new kernel, tried all versions of fa311 drivers from netgear, and they wouldn't compile at all. Became despondent. Searched http://www.linuxquestions.org for fa311, and found the big thread from a while back on this card. Read through, and 1/2 way down I found the message saying it works if you compile with the dp83810 driver in the 2.4.2 kernel. Recompiled and it's working fine. Just need to sort firewalling etc now.
The embarrasing thing is that I read and agreed very much with the post about searching for topics before posting. It didn't even occur to me before I started this thread. Will try harder in future (what my teachers always said I must do ).

Tried it, and the kernel threw a wobbly as it's compiled for 2.2.16-22. The one I mentioned above in the 2.4.2 kernel works fine.
