TFTP Server for AVAYA Phones

I have AVAYA IP Phones in my network that require bootup files from a TFTP Server. I have configured a RedHat 9.0 Linux box with TFTP.

I have verified the TFTP service is working properly by issuing the command "TFTP xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx GET 46xxsettings.scr" from a Windows 2000 desktop and the file is retrieved successfully. I have also verified the firewall is turned off.

The phone, however, ends up timing out because the TFTP service will not respond.
I started an Ethereal session while the phone was booting and noticed the Linux box will not respond to the phone's ARP request(s). Both the phone and Linux box are sitting on the same physical ethernet segment, and are in the same subnet.

I have tried adding static ARP entries for the phone on the Linux box, but that didn't work either.

Any thoughts on this? I hope I'm missing something really simple...

Do you have the firewall running and possibly blocking the port for tftp? I think it is port 69.

You're right TFTP is UDP 69...

I have been able to verify the firewall is definitely turned off, and I am able to get files from the machine via TFTP from a Windows box
