tdbdump and domain join

When my linux box is a member of a NT Domain, tdbdump lists all the mappings that happened. When I move the box into Workgroup mode and restart winbind, I can still see the mapping when I use tdbdump. But when I try to get users list, using system calls, I don see the domain users. Is it OK for this winbind_idmap.tdb to hang around like this? If not how to clear it. Or should I not clear it?
