still having trouble with my belkin f5d6001 (adm8211)

Ive come very close but i still cant get my adm8211 chip to work in redhat. i downloaded an 8211.o file from the admtek site made specifically for redhat 8 (what im running). After i "insmod -f 8211.o", an eth0 shows up with ifconfig and iwconfig. The problem then is that i cant edit it with iwconfig. For example, when i "iwconfig eth0", it shows ESSID:"" so i try to change my essid with "iwconfig eth0 essid default" (although i use my real essid instead of "default") but even after i do that, it still shows ESSID:"". Naturally, because i cant edit my eth0 wireless configurations, i still cant connect. If anyone knows if im leaving a step out or something, please help. Thanks
