Static route disappears

Running Gentoo with kernel 2.6.29 on a Sparc Ultra 10.
I'm having problems with my cable modem connection failing, so I've added a static route that enables me to log into the modem's diagnostics page at 192.168.100.1 when the connection drops; my /etc/conf.d/net looks like this (with the comment lines removed).
Code:
dns_domain_lo="MYNETWORK"
config_eth1=( "192.168.0.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.0.255" )
config_eth0=( "dhcp" )
routes_eth0=(
        "192.168.100.1/32 via 0.0.0.0"
)
dhcpcd_eth0="-N"
This works but after a period of several hours to several days, this static route disappears from the routing table.
Any ideas why this is happening?

If the link went to down during several hours to days, the static route could disappears for new release.
