Question SSH Question

Hi... I've been using Slackware for quite a while now, and am using 9.1 at the moment. My setup includes a file server with only a power cable and network cable, and a laptop which i use as my main machine. Sometimes i need to run maintanance on the file server which requires me to SSH into it, and do whatever is necessary.

Now, sometimes these taks involve copying large numbers of files which can take hours, so i start them before i go to bed. cos of the nature of ssh, i have to keep my laptop running, so that i don't close the ssh connection and hence stop the copy.

Basically what i am wondering is:
1) is there a way to run a command, and direct it to another terminal (ie tty1 as apposed to pts/1), so that when i close my ssh connection, the command/process remains active?
2) can you move processes from one terminal to another via a simple command?

Any help would be much appreciated

Adam

However, is there a way to bring something that has been nohup'ed back to displaying output on a terminal?

Just redirect the output to a file, then tail the file when you log back in.
