ssh: connect to host 192.168.1.66 port 22: Connection refused

Hi!
Recently I came into the possession of a Thinkpad with Lubuntu 13.10 installed. I already had a Toshiba satellite with Arch Linux. I've installed openssh-server and ssh on the Thinkpad, and ssh on the satellite, because I couldn't find openssh-server in the repos. On both the satellite and the thinkpad, I got the error
Code:
ssh: connect to host 192.168.1.66 port 22: Connection refused
so I ran the command
Code:
systemctl enable sshd.service
on the satellite, and I was able to ssh into the thinkpad. I tried running the command
Code:
/etc/init.d/ssh start
on my thinkpad, and got the same error as before. What am I doing wrong, and how can I resolve this issue? Thanks for your consideration.

Ok:
Code:
grace@t410:~$ ssh -v -v -v 192.168.66
OpenSSH_6.2p2 Ubuntu-6ubuntu0.1, OpenSSL 1.0.1e 11 Feb 2013
debug1: Reading configuration data /etc/ssh/ssh_config
debug1: /etc/ssh/ssh_config line 19: Applying options for *
debug2: ssh_connect: needpriv 0
debug1: Connecting to 192.168.66 [192.168.0.66] port 22.
After that, it just hung. I also tried running the command as root, and got the same result. Do you know what the problem might be?

On both laptops, I did the command
Code:
iptables -I INPUT -p tcp --dport 22 -j ACCEPT
and was able to connect. Thanks!
