smbclient - connect to a Win share
Hi!
Can anyone help me because I can't connect to a windows share with smbclient??
The share is \\brwwd\toShare\Local\
and I try like this to connect to it:
smbclient //brwwd/toShare/Local/
and the message I get is
Password:
Anonymous login successful
tree connect failed: NT_STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME
I'm on AIX 5.2 and the win server is running Windows 2003 Server.
Thanks in advance,
Chris

how about just "//brwwd/toShare"? the "Local/" is just the path of stuff inside the share

Hi!
I tried that, even it's not the case...and it's not working. The shared folder is "Local"...toShare contains folders that are shared...each one with its access rights.
Thanks for your reply,
Chris

Hi!
smbclient -U user -L server
shows a lot of Sharenames, Servers and Workgroups...with comment on their right side..
But nothing about my share - "Local" ...even though I can access it from Windows.
Thanks for your help,
Chris

mount -t smbfs -o username=<windows-username>,password=<windows-user-pass> //windows-box-ip-or-host-name/sharename /path-to-mount
Prior to that either create new directory of /path-to-mount or use some existing directory.
e.g.
mkdir /mp3-from-windows
mount -t smbfs -o username=microsoft,password=windows //192.168.55.2/mp3 /mp3-from-windows
Thats it.
