samba permission problems


I have the following part of code being part of my smb.conf file -
[shared]
comment = Main KL Share
path = /mnt/share
create mask = 0777
force user = adm
writable = Yes

however, from windoze, i am unable to write to it, only read. I would have thought 0777 would give the permision but it seems not, where am i going wrong? cheers
