They never gave me a router. I bought that from Maplins. And I don't use wifi on my main machine, only on the laptop (which I don't actually use much).
This is getting off the point. My router is a reliable old workhorse and doesn't need replacing. And Entanet has never provided routers to domestic customers; it was always a bare wires service. What was wrong was that they throttled me and then blocked me completely because of a failure in email communication that was entirely their fault. What kind of idiot shuts down a server that is providing (unofficial and unpublicised) email and web services, and then sends an essential warning email to an address on that server two years later? They didn't even check to see if it had bounced!
If I had known that I was near my monthly limit, I would have conserved my bandwidth. And if I then experienced a drastic cut, I would have known why and would not have started this thread..
