Slow Connection on Fedora Core 3

Hello. I am running Fedora Core 3 along with a Netgear DG834 4 Port ADSL Router and have had the same problem with a SpeedTouch 330 on Mandrake 10.1. Well, when I type in a URL it takes ages to load (about 20 seconds, but still...). However once I am on the site it appears instantly. Then when I go to another page on the site it loads fine. No pause. This only occurs when I enter the URL for a different website / subdomain. I do not get this problem on Windows or Macintosh and I feel it's a little odd for a 2MB connetion. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a DNS timeout. If you have multiple DNS configured, the first one is probably timing-out. Either remove it or switch the order (it may be having a temporary problem). You can configure your DNS entries in Applications->System Settings->Network, or by editing the file /etc/resolv.conf.
