Simulate Low bandwidth to Stress-Test our Mobile application.

Respected All,

I want to simulate Low bandwidth to Stress-Test our Mobile application.
For that, two possibilities are there:

(1) I need to automate this Process by writing Shell/Perl or other scripts. Kindly suggest the scripting environment suitable for this requirement too.

or

(2)I can use some open sourced Low Bandwidth simulator application and made necessary changes to configure & compile it's source code according to our specific needs.

Kindly provide your valuable suggestions.

Thanks & Regards,
Teknokid

google for "tc qdisc"

Allows you to throttle NIC traffic. The netem qdisc also allows you to emulate delay, packetloss, etc.

You configure it from the command line so can script it if you want, and its built in to all modern kernels.
