Sharing files via usb netwok adapter


Hi,

I've a laptop connecting to a WindowXP pc & sharing the internet connetion via wireless usb network adapter. The connection is very good but i dunno how to access shared files on WindowXp pc. do i need to use samba?

Samba would be right. You also need to kow the username and password of whichever user is currently logged on at the XP machine.

smbmount //WinXP/share

And if you haven't setup shares on the XP box you can always use Microsoft's lovely administrator mode.

smbmount //WinXP/C$

just come back from holiday. anyway thanks fro the reply.
ok i tried this cmd

Code:
mount -t smbfs //192.186.0.1/share /mnt/smb/
and this message

Code:
timeout connecting to 192.186.0.1:445
timeout connecting to 192.186.0.1:139
Error connecting to 192.186.0.1 (Operation already in progress)
5736: Connection to 192.186.0.1 failed
SMB connection failed

ok. i managed to solved it.

mount -t smbfs -o guest //192.168.01.1/shared /mnt/smb/

Samba WinXP problem fixed

This is probaby the most valuable post on the Internet. This problems solved my problem also of connecting from Linux to Windows XP through Samba. I'm not sure what part of it was the fix (guest or regular mount), but I was having the timeout problem and this fixed it.
