Unhappy server for authentification

Hi every body,
I have a laboratory with ten PC's ( local network) , for studient usage, I use rh7.3,
now in each machine I create counts for the studients,
instead of that I want to do the authentification on only one machine (say auth-server) . I mean a user can login in any machine, the login and passwd are check in the auth-server.

Is there a software doing that ? somebody has an idea ?

thanks for help
bela

What your're looking for is a service called NIS (used to be Yellow Page (YP))

It should ship with your distro. Configuration of the server is a little bit tricky, if you have to do it manually. But my SuSE ships with a pretty good configuration interface -- so your RH might as well.

HTH, Steave.
