server bandwidth limitations????

Hey all, I am interested in setting up my own web server, on FEdora, or REd Hat, using Apache. My issue would be bandwidth. If i were to set these system up on a machine running for instance P4 3GHz, say 1Gb RAM (a new system, NOT at an enterprise level). So pretty much a new, fast desktop.

If this system would run specifically for the purpose of my web server, what is the limitations of concurrent clients to access the server. 10-20-50???? Would a small computer slow to a crawl at only 10 users???
Given a cable line, DLS, t1???

Thanks so much

JOsh

I have a webserver running on my desktop. AMD 2500+ (1800 MHz) 512 MB RAM on a 100MBps connection. It didn't crawl under 20 concurrent connections, but it got a bit slower. I run a distance learning tool on it for school purposes, but it gets the job done.

Not really. I forgot to mention, or did I, that this is my desktop machine. I have to add that it runs SETI@home and some other programs, that take up to a 100% of CPU. A clean machine (0% CPU usage) should run as a webserver nicely. You don't have to invest in a expensive server machine if the traffic will not be that large. As I said, my machine still handles 20 concurrent connections, with the CPU at 100% before it even starts. I never really did a clean run as I run SETI all the time :P
