I am new to networking and this question really doesnt involve linux but you guys seem to be pretty smart so here goes. I am trying to set up a server and client network with my two computers. I am installing novell netware 6 as the server, and console one & NWadmiin on the other computer to administer changes(the client workstation). I am doing thhis to learn how to use novell. My question being, ( " can i hook the two computers together using the usb's or do i have to install NIC on both computers. My friend said " just hook the two together with a line". that really didnt help me alot. Anyway hope someone can help. thanks tom
USB does not provide (by itself) any networking capabilities. You'll need to use ethernet to connect them, either through ethernet cards built in, or you could use USB ethernet adapters. If you intend to directly connect the two ethernet cards, you'll need to use a crossover cable.
